You want to pick a plastisol transfer with a lower application temperature (Less than 340 F). You want something with an athletic grade polyester adhesive.

The lower the temp the less likely you are to agitate the dye in the polyester. When you see red polyester bleeding through the design most people think they didn't lay down enough ink, but it is most likely caused by getting the garment too hot (above 350 F) and activating the dyes in the shirt which will then work it's way through design regardless of the amount of ink. The benefit to using a transfer for this type of application is that the ink can be cured at a higher temperature when it is printed by your transfer supplier. This allows you to expose the garment to less temperature during the application process.

Hope that helps.

Aside from screenprinted plastisol transfers, printable flock material (using the Roland versacamm) could also work on polyester sports apparel. Vinyl flex (cut using cutting plotters) could also be used (even for 2 color jobs).
