I just put a bid in on a youth baseball league, they want pro logos on the front of the shirts, and they get the pro replica hats with logos on them too
Is it ok to print the same logo from the hats on the shirts for their league or do you have to have a license for that, or do you have to change the logo some?
They have been doing the league this way for many years but I’m not sure if I should be concerned here
Jake, there is a company that sells the replica MLB youth jerseys you're looking for. I don't have that link handy at the moment, but do a search for them, you'll find them. I think it's a 2 button jersey and a full button jersey out there
If you are referring to MLB logos, they are protected. You'd have to contact them, I suppose, to find out about how to use them, if you can. I remember a thread last year about MLB (let me try to remember this one correctly...) not wanting little league teams to even use the "names" of MLB teams... so, MLB is a tough one when it comes to their stuff.
If others have done it in the past, it does not mean they did it the right way. They may have gotten the license and permission, they may not have.
You could ask about how it has been done in the past. I know that I have been asked to do things by people who do not understand what is illegal to do. They think if they can lift the logo off of a website, its okay to use. I have had many a discussion refusing people (friends) because they insist someone else did it for them before, or nothing happened in the past. But, it is myself on the line, and I won't risk it for them or for a sale. It is not worth it to me. Not to go on a soapbox, but the people who did the shirts in the past for the league may not have had the right to use those logos, and some people may tell you it's okay, nothing has happened in the past. If the logos were just used (copyrighted) - you may run into the same conversations I have, and you'll need to know what you'll do and say.
Hopefully someone else has more "definitive" answers on who to contact to be able to use the logos legally... best of luck with this.

I think this is probly one i just want to pass on then, unless you can buy transfers of the logo from a licenced supplier?
If anyone has any suggestions or knows what i need to do for this to be ligit id be greatful, im not going to risk some licence issue over a youth league
