Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I have had it maybe a year... I have used it approx 30 times(?)
It prints with lines... about every inch there is a 1 pixel line across the page. I only use this printer for my transfer sheets... Usually this line is invisble after I transfer but I wanted to see if I could eliminate the line from my process.
I decided to read the manual and do an ink check. It all looked good except there was one slight line missing from the black section... I figured I would do a Nozzle Cleaning.... I did what the manual said but the machine never did the nozzle cleaning...
After messing with it for a few minutes and listening to it do the normal printer sounds (zzzk... skiiiiirrrt.... phiimmpp) the little droplet of ink light came on... As though the ink is OUT?/LOW?/BROKEN?
This printer is still completely young. If it's out of ink I would be AMAZED at the coincidence it decided to do this at the same moment I decided to figure out what the "lines" were all about.
Also.. I tried to access the ink cartridges so I could see if they looked low... I cant even figure out how to get the things to a place that I can grab them with my hand... I dont want to reach it there and force the little ink module thing over.... but the instructions are saying something different than what needs to be done....
Anyone have any help??
Edit: The manul says "Press the Stop button. The print head moves to the (symbol here) position to indicate which cartridge is low or expended"
That is not true. If you press the stop button, NOTHING happens..... If you HOLD the stop button then the print module thing moves back and forth... doing normal stupid printer crap.. zigging and zagging... and finally goes back to an untouchable position.

Apparently my ink is out... Guy claims that the first time you put ink in most of it is used on filling up the pipes or whatever are in the printer... Not sure that makes much sense to me considering the inner pipes of this system would be about 1" long.. but hey, what do I know... Another $50 I get to spend now, ha.
Let me switch my question over guys... and gals...
Now that I have to replace the ink -- what's the best way to go?
I saw somewhere refillable cartridges are good... But how do I know they are filling them with quality ink?? Where do I go? What do I do?
Can anyone give me the scoop?
I own both CX5000 and CX7400 printers. I actually destroyed a OEM cartridge to see how much ink is in it. I found that there is very little amount of ink that the factory puts in the cartridge. The area that has ink trace is the part that has circle object just above the ink port and nothing in the rest of the cartridge, just a bunch of hallowed walls to keep the cartridge from collapsing. So repeated cleaning will empty the cartridges faster.
I have been using inkjetcart.us refill-ables and have no complaint so far. The whole inside of the cartridge is hallow compared to OEM. So more ink can be filled in it. The company also sells cleaning solution.
To clean the heads I take a syringe filled with alcohol, move the carriage away from the docking area, I squirt (saturate) the foam located in the docking area, push the carriage back in the docking area and let it soak over night.
I also use autoprint program that keeps the heads primed on a schedlue. The program keeps the ink from drying in the heads.

I went to inkjetcarts.us and I found numerous ink cartridges that are compatible with my CX7400 but I am unsure which would be best for printing on the transfer paper for heat applications

Doug call Ross @ inkjetcarts.us. He is a very nice guy and will direct you into what is the best system or carts for you.
When you talk to him would you please tell him that Bob from the forum got the print head and the 7500 is working. Please tell him thanks again from me.
Thanks.

I use rubbing alcohol for cleaning. If you are not printing regularly or daily I suggest you buy the refillable cartridge set with heat transfer pigment inks instead of a CIS.. I also recommends buying cleaning solution. The kits come with syringes for vacuum and top off fill. It also come with all kinds of utilities for various model of inkjet printers. There members including me use the heat transfer pigment ink and cartridge from inkjetcart.us with JPSS. Do a forum search for inkjetcart.us and get pros and cons feedback from other members and make your decision based on the member posts.
