Hey work-ed,
Light colours on dark fabrics look fantastic because the paper I use comes with a white backing so any colours look rich and vivid (some precise cutting involved though). No halo either! I guess that problem comes with the kind of printer used and it’s ability to produce rich intense colour?
I looked around for the best, low budget printer I could get, in fact this website:
http://www.themagictouch.co.uk/ has an unbelievable amount of information regarding printers and how all the models perform with transfer paper and how the colours will come out both on the paper and in the wash. I just wish the paper they sell was as good as their website though because I spent 220 pounds (440 US dollars) on paper from them and the images came off in the wash. So they are great for information but I went elsewhere for my paper. So you can see it took me around 6 months of trying so many companies products before I found one that was perfect.
Anyway I ended up buying the Konika Minolta 2430DL laser printer for around 400 US dollars and the images are spot on! And when pressed onto the garment there is no halo or banding, just rich vivid colours that last if you use the method I mentioned in my earlier post

One thing I forgot to mention though which is the key to getting the image to stay on in the wash is when you have printed your image place the paper between two sheets of silicon paper and press for 2 seconds.... this process 'cures' the toner to the paper and I’m pretty sure that is what holds the image in the wash, plus the paper i get from Xpress all combines to make a great print.
Hope that helps my friend
