Default Pro World Transfers...HELP!!

I have a new, 3month old 16x20 mighty press (bought new from Proworld). I initially went off the temperature on the press but the thermometer seems wrong. When I used my IR thermometer it showed the thermometer on the press being 50 degrees low. I show up at ~96 degrees on the IR therm, so should be relatively close!

I called mighty press, and they replaced the themometer free of charge. The new one appears the same. I only noticed this because I had a transfer come back that was peeling really bad after 1 wash, and after talking to someone at ProWorld they suggested to check the heat, as it may have been TOO hot. My IR therm confirmed this.

I now Have it set to ~340 on the press thermometer and ~390 on my IR themometer. I am getting hit-and-miss on my images and wasting transfers and customer tshirts out the wazzoo. So much for quality control!

Sometimes the transfers edges will "peel" up and curl a bit, when i pull the paper. It feels like it has not released all the way.

I pre-press the garment, at least once, but normally twice for ~10-15 seconds total time. They are 50/50 gildan tshirts. I have tried with/without a teflon sheet, and also with/without a pad (sweatshirt, and an actual press pad) underneath with similiar results. Temp is ~385-390 at 12 seconds.

I don't see what I'm doing wrong? It is costing me more to make a tshirt than not making one! . A couple of shirts I was able to "save" by repressing (same heat) for another 12 seconds. I'm not for sure if these will stay together or fall apart quickly. I am pressing with FIRM pressure (not having to jump up and down, but it is PLENTY tight). I have made multiple tshirts in the past without an issue. The heat isn't fluctuating much (maybe 5-10 degrees max?) from all parts of the heat pad.

I'm trying to give a quality product, and seem to keep running into issues. I paid the extra to get a "quality" press and feel this is where my issue is. I can post/host pictures of the shirts if someone wants/needs to see as well.

I can't see what is the culprite!

Joseph. It sounds to me like it might be the thermostat rather than the thermometer. I suggest calling Stahls again and relay your problems to them. You should be able to print the transfers using 385 degrees, medium to heavy pressure, for 8-10 seconds. It is not necessary to use a teflon pad or to prepress for more than a few seconds.
Also, it sounds like you might be using too much pressure and too much time. Try easing up on both.
We will be pleased to assist you if needed.

the longer time seems to cause less issues. I was pressing at 10 seconds. Does TOO much pressure cause an issue with the transfers? I assumed it was too little pressure causing the issue. I'll call them again, thanks Ed. I would call..but you guys aren't open. Luckily you work late

Default Re: Pro World Transfers...HELP!!

Just pressed a tshirt/transfer without issues.

Just pressed a hoodie, 50/50 Gildan, and had a bit of issues.

Pro-world transfer #A9066F

Around the edges of the white, on-top of the black it seemed to "peel" up a bit. Around the yellow it didn't do anything? It probably won't wear very well, but paper did peel fine. The rest stayed put, just the edges where the ink was layered.

Pressure was a medium pressure, with heat at 385 (IR temp), hoodie pressed 3 times to make sure flat/moisture out. Pressed for 10 seconds.

Any ideas Ed? Is this the press? The press is pretty simple..as long as it heats up to the desired temp then what is wrong with it? More heat? longer press?
