Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
When I print Black on my Espon C88+ use Mira cool paper, I get what looks like tiny symmetrical track marks. In landscape mode, they run horizontally.
I've called Epson, cleaned, changed cartridges (DuraBrite factory issued) and no change. This is happening only with transfer paper, primarily the Miracool which I use.
Try playing around with the printer settings. I put mine on text & photo setting. Now I don't use that brand of paper either and I was going to start. So let me know if that helps.

They are pie cutters and I know the answer.. see if I am right. You are using photo or best photo settings instead of text/photo.. am I right. The inks do not absorb into the paper with Iron all or Miracool paper. So what happens is you get the track marks. You can do 2 things. Reduce the ink or take out the metal track. I did this on last printer. However. What happens if the marks are not really deep is the heat press actually melts the ink back over the tracks. have you tried this. I learned about this from Don..

How do you remove the tracks. Is it possible to do this and keep the warranty in tact.
The ink does melt over, so the tracks become less visible after being pressed, but you can still see them slightly. I would really like to get rid of them altogether if possible, without ruining the warranty.
Had the same problem with an Epson 1270, by removing the tracks I resolved one problem but created another (paper would not eject properly.) I believe that the track marks are left by the pie cutters (guide wheels) which push the paper through the printer.

Hi Lou,
first thanks for your tremendous contribution to all of us on the forum who are still learning this stuff. Re: the quote above, to "reduce the ink" do I just decrease the file resolution?
thanks,
CP
Re: the quote above, to "reduce the ink" do I just decrease the file resolution?
Print resolution, Not file resolution. You can keep your file 300dpi or whatever it is, but set the print settings to "Text" or "Text and Picture" instead of "photo" (or more specifically - 360DPI print resolution instead of 720DPI print resolution). The exact names of these settings may vary a bit, but should be close with any Epson.
