I've never used that product, but a good starting point for any new product is read the instructions/care guide.
Sometimes, it is as simple as dropping your temperature to avoid fabric reaction.
What are you applying to the shorts? What settings are you using?

Ive never used that product before. the customer brought them to me and i have done similiar shorts in the past just different brands. these were a lil different but u can see the makers logo was heat pressed also. i was just curious as to what i can put between the shorts or underneath so when i press i do get a nice press and avoid the impressions from underneath. the dye i can understand is a reaction to the heat which why i should of used black but u live and u learn. thanks

Impressions from underneath?
As in, you can see dents from the seams on the opposite side of the garment being pressed into the top surface?
To solve that, just put a pressing form in between the layers. There are products made just for that, but alternatively you can use a mouse pad (undecorated preferred) or if you are desperate, just some cardboard.
