where can I get some information about what fabrics are good for heat press applications
Hello everyone! So I'm brand new to this forum and have a few questions.
My BIG question is where can I get some information about what fabrics are good for heat press applications (using heat press computer cut vinyl, really HOT I believe). I'm having trouble "scorching" some finer fabrics and colors (i.e. fleese and red's). Any ideas?
Also, where is the best place to find affordable hooded sweatshirts? The cheapest place I could find online was only a few cents cheaper than Wal-Mart, and wouldn't be worth it after paying for shipping. Any help or suggestions you all could offer would be greatly appreciated!
I have recently gotten into the business, partially by accident as I realized that I could buy vinyl that could be computer cut with my vinyl cutter. Anyhow, I've picked up some business where I work as well as doing some t-shirts for the little league in my home town. So let me know what you know!
A good clothing reseller or manufacturer will probably be able to tell you if the garments are good for pressing or not. It might even say it on the tag. If not, check with your printer (if someone is doing custom transfers for you) and ask them. There's nothing like learning the hard way though!
Check with places like TSC apparel or SANMAR for hoodies. TSC has some decent deals on hoodies, but they might only be a few dollars less than buying at walmart. It might not be worth it depending on where you live. Good luck!

Usually the product description will tell you what fabrics it can be used with. Teh directions that come with the product may not be spot on. Alot of times, the printed directions need to be tweaked by the user (you).
If you have a specific vinyl your are trying to apply, why not ask on the forum if anyone has used "X" vinyl with fleece and what are the settings? Alot of times, a little tweaking goes a long way to solving ugly problems.
They are a part of Broder bros and NES. Once you sign up with one, you get info from all. The great things are: 1. they have locations all over the place, so one may be near you, allowing for customer pick up. 2. Alphashirt gives me "case pricing" on small orders if I phone it in and ask for it.

.... I just say, "May I please have case pricing?" and she says, "Yes, let me just make that adjustment in the computer."
They are very, very nice about it. Very pleasant, not annoyed in anyway or anything like that. I asked if I need to phone in the order to get the case pricing, or can I get it if I place orders online, and she said, "Oh, just call us, this way we can adjust it for you when we enter it. If you order online it's automated and we never see it, so we can't do it for you." She was very pleasant.
I use the Philly location and they are always top notch with politeness, friendliness and excellent customer service from order to delivery. My husband says when he picks up, they are always pleasant to him, and anyone else waiting for their packages to be brought up front.
Hope that helps you feel more comfortable, Marcelo. Once you ask the first time, it will be easier after that. I was nervous to ask the first time. They were wonderful, tho, and made me feel totally comfortable. Good luck, and good to see you as usual.
