Default should i keep clam shell press closed all the time?

I was wondering is it ok to keep my clam shell press closed constantly, with all the pressure i'm worried it might not be great for it and could shorten its life! Mines a hotronix (aka stahls).
Thanks for any help!

Hi Mark! That would be a great question for the Hotronix tech staff.

I personally do not leave my swinger press closed as I tend to think that this may not be a good practice. I'm not an expert though, just my own thought.

I keep mind closed (I have to for storage) but I put the tension on a really low setting.

I never close mine . I was told by a tech that this caused the spring to become stretched. ..... JB

I have a Stahl's and it is turned off, it is open all the time. I don't want to compress the pad on the bottom. When turned on, absolutely open unless actively pressing.
