Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Hi, I'm new to this game... I just got a order from the local girl scouts troop. all they want on the front say pocket is their troop number. On the back they want the girls nicknames. ... SHould I do all the shirts in Flock??? or if anyone has a differnt solution.
There are 30 shirts in the order all I have is a hobby-lite press epson c120 printer and a tsquare it!!!
Thank You All
Danny
I would see if you can find someone to do them in vinyl or flock. Opaque transfer paper would look horrible for that type of job in my opinion. If you want to get repeat business I would look to vinyl. do you have a cutter?

You might want to see how much you can get the names cut with vinyl for you. It will give you a good quality product for the customer and would hold up to how much kids clothes get washed.

I would do like BobbieLee said look around there are people that cut vinyl for people who dont have cutter. And vinyl will last longer and look better with names.

And dark papers, the good ones, are closer to $2 a sheet.
But, Girl Scouts uniforms are usually green colored, and Brownies, brown. What color is the shirt you are making? If it is a white tee, you can do this with JPSS because the window if very, very light. On a Jerzees HW 50/50 shirt, I can't even see the window. On a Gildan's it is a little bit, but nothing to worry about. You can probably put more then one name on a sheet of paper, depending on how big the girls are (little shirts can only fit littler names.)
If you are working with a color shirt, I'd check out the plastisols or vinyl, but I like what deChez said about doing both in the same medium. If you go vinyl with the name, consider vinyl for the troop number. I hear some vinyl's can be very soft, similar to screen printing. With vinyl, you can get wonderful finishes like glitter, hologram (don't even get me started, lol.)
You didn't really describe what sizes shirts, type of shirt, or what the finished product should be like - so there are alot of variables out there, but any of these methods will give you a fine shirt. (JPSS only if the shirt is white, IMO). I would not use dark paper for letters, one of the other options is much more appropriate. Good luck to you.
I think Stahls sells pre-cut letters. (?) Why do you keep mentioning flock? Just curious.

hey guys and gals thanks alot for all the info.. I just kept mentioning flock because it seems it would take forever to line every thing up and press on the front and back of 30 shirts. The shirts are from youth m to adult xxxl. I think i'm going to purchase a cutter it seems like it would do alot better job. you think UScutter is a good brand ?
Again ThANK YOU sooo much
Danny
US Cutter, Graphtec, Roland... all brands commonly mentioned on the forum. I bought a used Graphtec on Ebay (needs a blade holder still... I am a procrastinator. )
I believe us cutter has a forum on there website and you can look through it to see feedback on the different models, what folks like and don't like, issues and problems, etc. Of course, there is alot of info on this forum as well for the different brands.
