Default What Printer+Paper options are out there?

Ok, so I called up some online companies to see how much they would charge for transfers, and the numbers astounded me. I have a 2 color design, that is 7 x 11 and I was looking at 4 bucks a pop @ a quantity of 50. Thats $200, so I figured it would maybe be better to make my own.

All I know of right now is the Okidata 3400n and 100 sheets of DuraCotton HT. That would cost $193+70 = $260.

Are there any other cheaper alternatives?

Seems like everything in the shirt business its cheaper just to buy the equipment and do it.

Dangerous misconception.

1. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. What type of paper was the other quote? If they were online companies, it was probably the more professional and more durable plastisol transfers.

2. Don't forget a heat press.

3. Don't forget printer ink. Replacement ink costs more than the printer itself.

4. What's your time worth?

1) Im comparing plastisol to duracotton. Of course plastisol is probably better, but duracotton ive heard is nice too.
2) Getting a heat press
3) How many prints can a printer do before ink runs out?
4) My time? I got plenty of time.

As nice as duracotton is, there is no comparison to plastisol transfers.

Just checked my price sheet for Dowling Graphics. By ganging 2 of your 7X11's on 1 of their larger sheets, 25 plastisol transfers would cost you 65% less than your $200 quote. You should check them out.

when i want a ganged image, should i send them the ganged image myself or do they do it for me for free?
thanks a lot for the recommendations, you guys are saving me $$$ =)

That really seems too good to be true though.
25 sheets of (12.5 x 12.5) for 2.8 dollars each @ 2 color.

You must send them the artwork already ganged. And they don't cut them for you for that price either. But hey, for $130 I can buy my own scissors.

Rodney doesn't want us quoting specific pricing so I just showed you percentages. But your per sheet cost is correct for a 13X23 image area transfer. So, actually, you could gang 3 of your images per page for the same price.
