if you want a legit business i recommend screen printing.
transfers are ok for small orders, but not near as nice of quality as screen printing

welcome to forums
That's ok Matt if you have the room but not everyone does, also if u r just starting out T/P is cheaper as all u need is a printer, paper, the heat press you would need for any method you choose.
you have to decide what kind of printing u want to do,Inkjet,Laser,Sublimation.
there is a lot of info on the forums look up the keyword tags and read up about it before you buy a printer there are pro's and con's with them all and only you will know what suits your budget and space If you get stuck ask us and someone here will be able to help
there are a lot of Vendors listed on the left hand side and they give a discount for t-shirt members

Although I agree that screen printed shirts are of a higher overall quality than transfered shirts, both have their pros and cons. You can do things with a heat press that you can't do (affordably anyway) with screenprinting - and vice versa. It's the ongoing debate of what's the best, most cost effective, highest quality, quickest, and professional way to decorate apparel and other tangible goods.

Screenprinting is a artform to some degree. Anyone can do it, but not anyone can do it well.

You can teach a monkey to heatpress a design onto a t-shirt. It's a great way to start and see what works for you. Very easy to learn, somewhat easy to master, not to expensive to start and easy to make money doing. No screen washing, reclaiming, bulk ink orders and storage, large equipment, dryer purchases, etc. You can start making money the day you get your equipment and make customers happy with their personalized 1 piece orders.

I would think start up cost for plastisol would be less and the inventory needed on hand could be minimal. ..... JB
