Hey, Im looking in to setting up a small T-shirt business and am researching equipment. I think im gonna go down the heat transfer route and was wondering which printers would be best suited for good results.

I will be starting predominantly with slogans but may venture on to using images down the line.

any advice would be greatfully received.

If you use a bulk ink system and need to print 11x17, the Epson 1400 is a good choice. The Epson 120 or C88+ is fine for 8.5x11. It is always more about the inks, than it is the printer.

I think I'll also mention that Jack has an excellent web site, and can pretty much set you up with "turnkey" everything you need packages. They may charge a bit more than you'd pay for an "ebay" setup, but I'd rather speak to a gentleman with a bit of a Tennessee accent than get "email not valid" messages from a server in China...

Buy the best, and cry once.

I would go for an OKI 3400 color laser printer and use DuraCotton HT paper.

Can't go wrong with that combination in my opinion, mainly because:
1- Save lot's of time since you don't need to cut around the images (no box effect at all) and
2- Overall qualty is superb even after TONS of washes. No fading and colors remain vivid.
3- There is no hand at all, feels just like silk screen printed t-shirts.

As for software I use photoshop cs3 mianly.
