Default Determining "Light" and "Dark"

I use JPSS for lights and IronAll Dark for dark shirts, but what exactly is considered "light" and "dark"? Obviously, white is light but what else falls into it? I presume light grays, blues and things like that.

Im a newbie, so Im still learning

Thanks

Dark would be Forrest green, Navy Blue most colors the the ink would need and underlay of clear or white to show up. Hope it helps.

As a novice to this, I guess I have a dumb question but here goe's!!
Can you use dark transfer paper on light's, I guess you have to trim transfer anyway. I know not cost effective, but just curious if you run out of light and have a one off to do???
thanks

Well I'm still new here too, but maybe a senior member will chime in. I think you can use a dark transfer paper and trim around it, if you have to but you will want to trim it well to make it look clean. Also, it will have more of the "vinyl" feel to it if that is ok. Personally, if it is one shirt than I don't see a problem, but if you have a large order the trimming won't be worth it.

Hi, Your not a dumb question. Yes you can use a dark transfer on a light shirt. THe big difference between transfers for light and dark are the feel. The Opaque Transfers (for dark shirts) have a heaver feel to them as opposed to the transfers for white (JPSS). If you were to put a dark transfer on a white shirt, it would work but it would be heavier and have a heaver feel. I hope that this helps.

Light colors a those that aren't "darker" than the palm of your hand.

Light blue, light pink, sand, mint green, light yellow...you get the idea. Ash, or light gray is considered light, but I find that the "window" shows up much more on the ash than on any other light color.

Yes, you certainly can use the paper for darks on light shirts.
