Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I have a Epson 1280 Inkjet printer and I am looking to make my own color transfers. I also have a Roland GX24 vinyl cutter. I want to know what is the best ink to use to make color transfers and what is the best paper.
I dont really use my 1280 much, but I want to dedicate it to just making color transfers.
You mentioned having tghe GX24. Are you planning to use the GX24 to cut out the opaque transfers for darks? You should be able to use the OEM ink but I would suggest getting a CIS system with pigmented ink, more cost effectrive. I think you will find everyone has there own special transfer paper that they use. I am using the Coilor zjet II, Foever Dark, and Coastla Graphic Neemah (sp) papers. I have also used Tansjet II paper and have cut all on my GX24. Good luck.
The durabright oem inks will do you, some people like them some don't, if you don't want to invest in a cis you can use re-fillable carts and simply re-fill from a 4 oz. bottle.
