Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I don't use the heat press a ton for my business but like to offer mousepads, totes etc. I started out with a used Jetpress 12 and liked it but never had consistency because it was old and had no temp gauge and no pressure adjustment.
Call me stupid but when I saw a newer one on e-bay that had had limited use, i jumped at the chance to get one with the features I was missing.
Well, now I'm having way more trouble than with the first one. Just started using it and can't get my transfers to adhere using the exact same materials as before.
Am i usng too much heat, not enough heat, too much pressure, not enough pressure, pressing too long or not long enough??? Help, please!
Hi. If your items suddenly aren't sticking to the surfaces, when they have stuck to them before and you haven't changed paper brand, then the problem is almost certainly to do with your press.
Most likely culprit, is that the press isn't getting hot enough to activate the adhesive on the transfer.
Sounds like you need to up the heat and/or pressure. I press JPSS at 400ºF for 30 seconds at med/high pressure. You might want to get some of those heat indicator strips to see if your press is heating up correctly.
