Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Hey guys. I was wondering what would be the best way to put this design on a shirt? I plan on using 2 colors on a navy blue 50/50 blend shirt. I would like it to be full size so i'm guessing 11x11 or something close to that. Would I be going the right route by getting some heat transfers or should I look into some other option?
I would need 15-30 at the most. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You might be paying quite a bit for transfers if you only need that few. It can be done with a vinyl cutter, there are plenty of folks on here who could cut it for you. If you want it 11x11 it should not be too intricate or take too long to weed.

probably be pretty cool in vinyl cuz it would give it a kinda athletic look but you would definitely be able to feel the vinyl...screen printing would be easiest. You'd use water based ink if you want a softer feel.
Some vinyls are very close in appearance and texture to screenprint, yes waterbased would give virtually no feel but would be expensive for 15-30. You can't get waterbased transfers either in case you are wondering.
If it's 2 colours no problem in vinyl, if you need the colours blending or faded you can't do in vinyl.

Nothing wrong with using transfers. People perpetuate this myth that it's expensive but it isn't true. Prices for screenprinting run the gamut from slightly cheaper than transfers to several times the price of transfers. If a soft hand is important then water based screenprinting is the softest. Best thing to do is just call up half a dozen screenprinters in your area, explain what you want and ask for quotes.
With what you are looking at small quantities then generally yes the transfers are cheaper (unless you have someone willing to do the artwork/screens/set up/clean up for free of course)
but for quantities I would doubt there is a cheaper method than screenprinting.
BUT if feel is important to you then make sure you actually get to test/see what you are getting with a transfer before committing.
I think I am going to go with 3 colors instead of 2. I will post a pic of what I am hoping to accomplish. The pricing on 3 color transfers is rather expensive, at least the places I have found.
Ok, the grey part I would like to get like a shiny silver, the white is white, and black is black. The blue would just be knockout of the shirt since we wanted to go with navy blue gildan tees. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome!
