Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Hi Guys, I am new here and new to heat transfer. Unfortunatelly I did not find this forum before I started to buy equipment. My question will maybe a source of laugh, but...
So far I have purchased heat press machine, forever ink-jet dark papers and epson stylus photo 1400. I printed an image on the paper, put it on a t-shirt, pressed 190 degrees, 50 secs and... oops, the paper dried and did not stick to the t-shirt at all. What is wrong? The paper, the printer or me?
Thanks for tips,
Zbynek
Did you peel the backing off then put a teflon sheet on the top and press? You can watch video from forever site for the printing process of there paper.
side note on epson 1400....if using oem ink carts...claria ink...curious if you had any fade or bleeds. Make sure you wash test ....you may not get this on dark transfers...I did on lights and darks...and switched ink to Armor Ink by best blanks....vibrant colors and no problems. Alot of variables can cause this...but I found Claria ink looked great...but not after wash test. Just thought I'd comment on this since your new...something to check....=)
My problem is that the picture remained on the paper.. it did not stick to the t-shirt. After I took the t-shirt from the heat press and tried to remove the cover paper, I removed that with the transfer layer as well.
Hi. You need to press the shirt for a few seconds to remove any moisture.
When the shirt has cooled, remove the backing paper from the transfer, lay it image up on the tee shirt, cover with a silicone sheet and press.
If this does not solve the problem, it may be that your press is not getting up to the right temperature. I am assuming that you have your press set up at 190 degrees centigrade, rather than in farenheit?
Got it! Thanks for help, the problem was a stupid newbie mistake :-) I did not know I had to remove the backing paper and press the transfer the other side...
