Default Jet Pro Soft Stretch & Canon CLI-8 Dye Inks?

Is there anyone getting great results (print & wash) using the Canon OEM CLI-8 dye inks with the Neenah Jet Pro Soft Stretch inkjet paper?

I'd like to purchase a particular Canon PIXMA MP model using the CLI-8 dye inks (it also uses one black Pigment ink cartridge). However, I cannot find anyone who has tested with this Canon OEM ink line.

I asked the Neenah company about using dye-inks with the JPSS paper & was advised that their paper works well with OEM dye inks per their tests.

They just did not give details of "which" OEM dye inks were tested and I did not yet ask. I'd like to assume HP, Epson, Canon & Lexmark but may not be the case.

Thanks.

What you should consider unless you want to buy more then one printer is the use of other transfer papers that do not do well with dye ink. You kind of put yourself in a box by buying a printer that only does one paper well. Lou

Thanks for the insight Lou!

Since my primary means for decorating is not with heat transfers, I do not mind if the JPSS paper is the only paper that will work with the printer model I'm evaluating.

I like this model because of the print quality, photo print quality, separate ink tanks and the fact that it's multi-purpose, which is what I need (for printing, copying, scanning). If the JPSS paper also works will with the inks used in this printer, then that's an added plus.

It's either this Canon or the HP Photosmart Pro B8850. For the price of the Canon and all that it does, I find it a better deal.

I have tested HP dye inks and JPSS. In cold water washing they are ok. The image did bleed but washed out on the next trip through the wash cycle. Hot water with bleach the inks faded pretty bad. I could live with the cold water results but went ahead and picked up a cheap Epson c-120 with pigment inks. That image didnt wash out under the hot water and bleach test.

I know this isnt Canon inks but I think you will get better results overall with some sort of pigment ink. There might be pigment ink available for the printer you are interested in... you might check it out.

Hi Rick!

Not quite the same ink, although the ink in the MP210 is dye-based and it too has a pigment black cart available.

The MP210 uses the Canon Color FINE ink with different cart numbers than the MP970 I've been eyeing. (Sorry about that, I did not list the specific model of the one I'm asking about).

I'm tempted to think the ink in the MP970 just might work.
