Exclamation foil tranfers...

Hi i'm new to the forum. I'm trying to get a shirt done with gold foil text. I'm not sure what the term for this is called. When i call screen printing businesses i'll ask if can do "foil screen printing" and they sound like they have no clue what i'm talking about.

What is the correct term for this or how should i ask them so they know what i'm talking about??

here's is an example of what i'm trying to do...

It's most likely a cut-vinyl product. I know it as "metallic vinyl" not foil. I'm sure there are other terms, but that's what it looks like to me....metallic vinyl. Just about any apparel vinyl vendor will carry some sort of this stuff....here's a link to where I get my vinyls: Heat Applied transfer vinyl for t-shirt applications just scroll down and look for gold, old gold or silver.

Every printer i've dealt with call it "foil printing" or something along those lines.

This type print is fairly easy to do. Although I haven't done much of it, I've had success with using laser fusing foil, and it only requires one additional step in the process.

If you are not familiar with Foil Fusers, here is a snippet from one of the websites that sells a fuser:

Foil fusers are ideal for creating business cards, documents, posters, ads and more. Foil fusing foil, once heated up, is designed to adhere and fuse directly to toner. The end result is lettering, images and logos that have a professional colored metallic finish.

Not only will the foil adhere to toner, but it will also adhere to plastisol and vinyl printed shirts. Simply place your shirt in your heat press, cut what you need from a foil roll, place it on the shirt on the desired area and press with medium pressure at 300 degrees for about 3 seconds or so.

The result is a beautiful metallic print.

You can find this foil in a variety of colors and effects, usually priced about $19.99 for a 12'' x 100' roll. It's very cost effective, especially considering the markup you can get for a "foiled" special effect shirt.

Hope this helps.
