Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
We have only had our digital clamshell heat press for couple weeks now, and we have been dealing with the transfer paper that we printed, curling up as soon as you position it on the press, so that you barely have enough time to position it correctly on there.
could someone please let us know if we might be doing something wrong or not doing right steps, thaks in advance!
Hi. The problem occurs with swing away presses too. It is the heat retained in the bed of the machine that curls up the paper.
My own simple solution is to place a sheet of card on top, as I put the transfer on the machine. If you use a piece of card the same size as the transfer, it is much easier to align.
Thaks GEORGE,
We are going to order some of those sheets real soon,I did couple more shirts tonight, and its still a problem, so cant wait until we get some and try it. THAKS AGAIN!!
Hi. In response to your question, just an ordinary piece of thin card. Only needs a light weight to stop the curling. Put the card and the transfer together before putting on the press, so the transfer doesn't have the opportunity to curl. You can re-use the card time and time again.
I have used heat tape before, but it can pull at the fibres when removed, if you're not careful.
Both methods work, just choose the one that suits you best.
this happens to me all the time too. so i always take my t-shirt to the iron board, position the transfer on the shirt, and iron over it for about 20 - 30 seconds so that it stays in place. then I take it to the press machine to press..etc..
