Question Butt Print Transfers

I have some butt print transfers coming up. They will either be plastisol transfers or vinyl. How much do I need to worry about the seam? Poking around online I see some places print on the seam and others leave a gap. Unfortunately I can't seem to come up with a design that isn't lopsided if I leave a gap. I plan on using cardboard or something to build up either side of the seam. I also don't know how wide to make the design or how much of a gap to leave for the seam (if any). The shorts are women's medium cheer shorts from Augusta. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

I do lots of this type of transfer and use a mouse pad to raise the area, so you don't deal with seam. There are proucts on the market to help with this issue too. I wish you good luck. ..... JB

What do you mean by "don't deal with the seam"? Does that mean you transfer right across the seam? Actually I'll trade that luck for a little specific advice. I've printed on many different items and materials, just never actually dealt with butt prints before. Thanks.

I use a mouse(s) pads to raise the imprint ares on the sides of the seam and press over it. I have had luck(success) with word prints applied in this manner. I used the word luck instead of success. I do alot of cheer shorts and sweats in this manner. I can normally space the words, so the seam is not a real issue, but if it is then I just use the mouse pads. ...... JB

Okay thanks, I wasn't trying to be a smart-aleck about the luck but sometimes intent doesn't convey well in print. I just wanted to clarify about going on top the seam, I wasn't sure if that would cause a problem. Knowing I don't have to leave a gap makes this much simpler.

At the risk of offending you, and that's NOT my intention, my third grade mind kicked in reading this post....LOL Butt Prints, Seams, Poking around....

But moving on....I use a TeePadIt from Badalou and it's allowed me to press things that I otherwise wouldn't have even tried. Seams, collars, zippers, buttons.....granted, I don't press ON the zippers and buttons, but they're on the other side of the garment, and giving me a fit without the TeePadIt.

I would think with vinyl or plastisol and a teepadit, you should have little trouble pressing right on top of that seam. I had to adjust my clamp pressure a little, but now that I've found the right setting, it's been working like a champ.

If you're going to leave a gap of some sort, you will need to measure the seam on the shorts you're using and go from there. There's not a "standard" spacing I could give you.
