Default Iron All Cracks when Stretched? Light or Dark

Hi All,

I am having problems with Iron All for Lights and Darks, when I stretch them just a little bit, they both crack.

I am pressing at 350 for 15 seconds, medium pressure, using Gildan 5000 Heavy Cotton Tees

I thought this product was suppose to stretch and not crack like other paper.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Ted

Hi Ted,

I used to use Ironall for lights, switched to JPSS, and still have Ironall for Darks in house. You are right, it's not supposed to crack.

Here is a post for you on heat pressing. Double check to see if there are any steps you are skipping. Let me know. When I use the steps in this post, I get excellent results with Ironall lt, dark, and JPSS. Good luck to you, hope it works out. (There's always the chance of the dreaded bad batch of paper.)

PS: You're time for lights is a little short for Ironall light. I think I used to press it at 350* for 25 seconds. The Ironall dark presses great at 375* for 6 seconds, and JPSS - which is the light paper I recommend - presses at 375* for 30 seconds. All with heavy pressure for me. Up your pressure and dwell time if you are using that for Ironall light.

A problem that develops when you leave out a step. That step is to stretch it while it is hot on the shirt. I have yet to see a transfer made with iron All, everlast or iron all for darks that cracks.

Yep, if you find one of Lou's videos on YouTube, you can watch him press a shirt. The stretch is including in that link I gave you, Ted. Good luck with it, it's nice when things get going smoothly.

I did stretch when it was hot and it cracked. Very strange, maybe I have some bad paper.

How hard are you stretching it, and did you follow the stretch with a re-press to reset the inks now that the weave was opened?

I also pre-stretch, to reduce the amount of stretch that happens after the image is applied? Did you get a chance to read the post?

No I did not that as I have not printed anything yet. The re-press is all new to me, I did not know that you had to that. I just followed the instructions provided with the paper and it does not say anything about doing that.

I stretched the shirt very lightly when it was still hot and that is when it cracked.

I just finished editing 2 new video and will get them on YouTube tonight. I did a tee and clearly show how I stretched the image after pressing. The other video is placing image on mouse pad.Lou

we might be confussed as to your term "cracked" Does the ink come off. Or Is just that there is space in the ribs when stretched. I ha yet to see this paper crack. Love to see pictures. I also never re press. Lou

Thanks, as always, Lou, for the videos... a picture is worth a thousand words, and besides... it's cute hearing you explain the process.
