If anyone is looking to heat press onto polyester, I found a good way and thought I'd share it...
I'm working on an order for a hockey team and they wanted Holloway Micron polyester jackets. As part of the order, they wanted the team name screen printed on the back. Since I don't currently do screen printing, I had to find a way to get this done.
After speaking to a couple of local screen printers and not getting a warm fuzzy feeling that they could meet my schedule, I was going to go with heat pressed vinyl. The problem is, they want 275 jackets with 2 colors. That's a LOT of time cutting and weeding. I was even more concerned with trying to get 275 double layers to line up perfectly.
I ordered numerous samples from various vendors from Rodney's thread. Out of all the ones we tried, the one sample that held up the best was a product called Elastoflex from Ace Transfer. I ordered 20 sheets to play with and so far, it has exceeded everything we've thrown at it.
Take a look at this picture:
This is after running the piece of fabric through the wash at least 10 times and through the dryer on maximum heat at least 10 times. On the last go through, it got caught on the lint trap and wound it's way around. Despite all that, the transfer is still stuck on... I found one small tear in it.
If anyone else needs to put custom transfers onto polyester, I highly recommend the Elastoflex from Ace Transfer Company
