Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I'm getting double imaging when sublimating t-shirts.
The temp and time is correct, the image is held down with heat tape to avoid movement and the plate is cleaned after every press but still the double imaging occurs. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Can you send a private message please.
Thanks
Check your pressure and use "Prospray" from Conde. You can still get movement subbing fabric with tape. Heavy pressure and spray will do the trick. Also use the right paper for fabric.
if you open your press all the way too quickly you get a vacuum effect which lifts the paper up. Then when it falls down again it creates the ghost image. This may happen even with the tape.
I usually tape (not always) my transfer down but when your press beeps, just lift it enough so it unlocks,
then very slowly open it. I find this works for me. I can't remember the last time I had a double image.
Hi Lar,
Appreciate your comments. Spent most of today trying to adjust the plate as there is a tiny bit of backward movement upon releasing the pressure.
Its helped a bit but will try and see if you method improves things
once you get to know your press, you know how much ummpph you need to release the top platen or clamp it down.
Truthfully; I haven't used heat tape on shirts in a while or pro spray, though both are good. (I do use them on other things.
On shirts, I pull my lever just enough to make it release pressure yet still sit on the shirt. I then lift up and pull the paper away. The paper always stays there.
Have you posted this question over at dyesub.org? Some of the guys over there might have mored ideas, if none of these are working for you.
