How do I prevent printer clogs on a C120 printer not being used?
I have spent a long time researching my problem on the forum and have not found a real answer to my questions. It might be there as a bit of useful info, but I didn't find it. So here gos.
I have a C120 Epson printer coming next week and plan on using it for for heat transfers and dye sublimation. I have yet to decide if I will go with a two CIS systems for the two different inks.
My problem is that I am doing this as a side hobby and will be spending 60 days at a time away from the printer at a "real job".
Can I clean out the CIS systems to let them store for 60 days and not have a clogged printer head? (How?)
Can I clean out and store one ink to switch from one to the other?
Do I need to have two printers even if I will not be using them very often?
Should I go with refillable cartridge? (I am not afraid of refilling cartages from bulk if I can get the ink.)
Will the cartridge go bad in 60 days of no use?
I have found a program to print a page a day while I am at work, but that seems to be a wast of paper and ink for a 60 day period, adding the chance that a power outage might keep some part of the system from running properly.

I also found in the same site this :
"If there is no Autoprint software for your computer, there is another less elegant solution. From your local hardware store, get a low cost timer switch. The type that will turn on light and appliances while you are not at home. Install this on your printer power line. Set it to come on for 15 minutes during the day or night and then go off again. When the printer power is turned on, the printer will do a cleaning cycle. This will keep your CFS lines fresh."

I like this method better.
That sounds like a solution for a few days. I'm just not sure if just the startup cleaning would be enough for a 60 day time frame.
I have read that you should print a page a day to keep the head clean.
Re: How do I prevent printer clogs on a C120 printer not being used?
Print a page a day is just to keep the ink from having an opportunity to sit undisturbed and have a chance to dry on the nozzles and pad it rests on, forming a clog.

Well... I think that I'll try the timer. I have a few not in use. I got 2 more $36 Epson C120 printers and if I clog the head on one, I'll have a spare or two. I would still like to know how to clean out the ink on a printer for long term storage. I could try distilled water and test pages till they came out clear.
