I have the epson stylus 1400 and is there a way to fill it with dye sub ink? Or how do I hook up a bulk ink system to this printer? I want to produce some good quality shirts what do I do?

Hi,
Yes you can fill it with dye sub ink! I have a epson 1400 and i got a bulk ink system from coastal business. They will tell you how to hook it up, it comes with instructions. Here is the link http://www.coastalbusiness.com/index...D&ProdID=47862
I also have the 1400 and I have an Epson 1280, I use the 1280 for dye-sub and the 1400 for regular transfers, but the 1400 will accept the bulk ink system for dye-sub as well. I get all of my supplies at Conde Systems - Sublimation, CrystalMPrints, Transfer Paper, Heat Presses, ChromaBlast Ink - Order Online! , their back up and tech people are really great helping you set up the system and color profiles, and any problem you may encounter. I have been using the 1400 with a bulk artainium system since last August...only one time have I had to do a head cleaning...good machine, much better than the 1280 was for me
The 1400 does not come with pigment ink. It comes with Claria ink which they say is water resistant. I know a couple of members have use the claria ink with JPSS with some success, but I have only tried it at first with just normal transfer paper and the results were not good.I have not used JPSS yet...that is on my 'to do' list
You can get the bulk ink system from Creative Transfers transfer paper|heat transfers| inkjet transfer paper t- shirts mouse pads and ask for Mark Albert. He set me up with the bulk system and I LOVE it, and it was actually a little cheaper than other one's that I had looked at. Hope that helps and good luck!
I plan on doing heat transfers and am struggling with either getting the 1400 or r1900. Is the r1900 just adding bells and whistles i dont need for transfers? It accepts roll feed and prints faster but I read it goes through ink faster. Any advice is welcome.
I haven't done any research on the 1900 so I can't tell you much about it. If it goes through ink faster I would think about it first. My bulk system on the 1400 does great on ink and it prints at a decent speed. Sorry I can't help you out much more than that!
I am wondering Julie, have you ever used the Epson 1280? I have both the 1280 and the 1400 but use the 1400 in tandam with my Roland gx24 for vinyl transfers on dark shirts. The 1280 is bad about clogging up if you don't use it or do a nozzle check every day, I have the bulk ink system with the 1280, do you think if would be worth it to switch he bulk system over to the 1400 . Ken
Yes, in fact I went from a 1280 to the 1400 for my heat transfer, and now I use my 1280 for my dye sub printing. I would definitely switch to the 1400 and the bulk system - I absolutely LOVE it!

Hi, i myself have been doing a LOT of reading in this site regarding these two printers as I am just about to buy one of them. I will tell you what little i know.
The R1900 uses 8 different colors which i assume mean better quality prints/transfers, however it also means more money on ink i believe.
The R1900 main advantage is that the ink it uses by default is PIGMENT ink, unlike the 1400 which uses dye based ink, although this dye ink in the 1400 can easily be replaced with a CIS and pigment ink, but i believe the 1900 is better as it is made to use pigment ink right from the start and as such i believe it doesnt clog as much.
Sorry thats about all i have found out so far, im kinda undecided as well, but i think i am leaning more towards the 1900 at this stage.
