Question Heat Press Transfer and Screen Printed Image

I have a challenge I hope someone can help me with.
I have a design that I intend do using a combination screen print background and heat transfer main item.
By this I mean I will first screen print the background and then cure it.
Afterwards I will add the main art that simply cannot be printed well.
I will then have to heat press the whole image.
Has anyone done this before?
Did it work?
What do I have to look out for?

I've done it also. No puff inks. They will squish flat when you press them...tried that too.

I am trying this as well. I screen printed a design on the back side of the shirt, but will be doing a heat press transfer on the front side.

Do I need to put some sort of paper on my screen printed design so the plastisol don't soften and stick to my heat press? Will paper do just fine or I need a certain type of material? I really don't want the plastisol ink to come off at all during heat press.
