Default Canon IP3500 for heat transfers?

Hi everyone. I have a Canon IP3500 that uses PGI - 5 BK, and CLI - 8 C, M, and Y inks. Can I use it to print heat transfers? If I can, what kind of paper and inks do I need to get? I am using 100% cotton shirts and usually bright colors. I have been silk screening so far but need to make some samples and the inject would be a good option for that purpose.
Thanks
Nadia

JetPro Sofstretch (JPSS) seems to work with several ink sets and printers. See this link-
What kind of ink can you use with JPSS - wash tests with different kinds of inks

JPSS works with 100% or 50/50 but is for use on whites and light colors such as light yellow, light pink and ash grey in some cases. If you are using darker reds, blues etc this paper will not work. You would need a paper designed for dark/opaque transfers. I have not found one I like but some of the members use Everlast for darks.

Good luck...

Ditto to what Chip said, and adding this note: Regular Dye ink, in the Canons, will wash off other transfer papers that are Not Jetprosofstretch. If you use papers besides JPSSS, you'll need pigment ink. The ink may not wash out the first few washes, but after a few, the image fades. I started out making all of my transfers with the Canon Pixma IP4000. The product is not durable - unless - you use JPSS papers.

Epson makes alot of nice pigment ink printers for this use. If you want to check out the line up, go to epson.com. There is a nice C120 (8.5x11" max print size) in the clearance for $36 right now. That will work on all papers, of course including Jpss.

Here's a link to a shirt I printed with Canon regular dye ink, out of my pixma, onto JPSS paper, and have been bleaching this shirt with One Cup of bleach.
Wow! Jetprosofstretch JPSS & Bleach Results -pictures - Canon Dye ink and Durabrite Pigment ink

Everlast is another name for Ironall Dark papers. If you "search" for Ironall Dark, you'll see alot of folks are having trouble with that paper recently, some possible bad batch out there...

Most folks are moving over to Alpha Gold for darks at this time, and seem happy. A search on both names of those papers will return the latest threads and discussions out there.

Best regards to you. Good luck in whatever you do.
