Default quick review of the Geo Knight DK20 auto opening upgrade

I just wanted to post my experience with a recent upgrade I bought and installed for my Geo Knight DK20.

I bought the auto opening upgrade kit because I find when I do alot of pressing I get very tired opening that sucker up every 10 to 20 seconds Call me a wimp.

First I called around looking for pricing and I bought from the place with best pricing. I now feel pretty silly because I never told my sales person I was a T-shirt forums member, I just asked her for best pricing, and indeed it was better than any other prices on the net. Now I wonder if I would have received another 5% off...grumble, grumble. But anyways the price was right so I took the plunge. I bought from Coastal who so far have been wonderful attentive people. Tracy is my sales person, she handles Washington State.

It was drop shipped from Geo Knight. one number of my address was lost somewhere in the placing of the order. Tracy emailed and asked if I had received my order and I had not so she did some digging and found out that it was sitting at UPS in my area, waiting for the address to be clarified, we fixed that up and I got it the next day.

It was a 5 step process, the "shocks" were a big tricky and my husband's "muscle" was put to good use, but in the end everything worked perfectly. Now I press and the platen opens as if by magic (ok not by magic, it is when the timer counts down to 0). I will say on the heavy pressure jobs the platen flies open a bit faster than I would like and the bottom platen (free floating) jumps, but Coastal says I can remove one of the inner shocks to lessen the uplift and it will be fine.

This was a great add on to get for a serious press user. I work full time and often press during the wee hours of the night so any conservation of my energy is much appreciated

Nice review. Glad to hear you like the upgrade. The auto open presses are really nice. Coastal Business is a good company to work with and everyone that I meet there is always nice. Best wishes with your new press.
