Default Pressing Dark Transfers

Hello,

When i am pressing my dark transfers onto dark t-shirts, when i release the press and peel back the cover sheet, i loose quite a bit of colour and vibrancy from the image.

What am i doing wrong??

I press on medium-strong pressure, at 190 degrees for 25 seconds. Is that too long?? I just want to make sure there is no way the image is going to wash off.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Jon

Nelly,
I have kind of the same post going. "Ironall for darks concerns".

You may want to be more specific on what paper, printer, inks you are using. Then we should watch each others post to see if someone can help.

Is that 190 Celsius?

We press Ironall Dark at 375 F for 6 seconds. If you are using celsuis, convert that to F. If you are using F, up your temp to 375, and reduce to 6 seconds. Pre-press your shirt to get the moisture out first. 5 seconds is average.

If you press dark papers too long, they can become translucent/see through, and lose their opaque.

Hi Mark,

Yes, my machine is in celsius, so the 375 converts to 190.

6 seconds seems very short. Will that still be enough time to fully cure the image to the t-shirt and it wil not wash off??

I am using 'coastal business' dark transfer paper.

I would bump time up to 10 sec. The longer exposed to the heat, the more of the ink is transfered to shirt.

Good Luck
