Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
hi im not sure if this is a bit of a dumbass Q but im pretty new to this industry, in my last post i was advised that the best way to transfer print onto a t-shirt via heatpress is with plastisol, but i dont get how it works, everytime i search plastisol, its associated with screenprinting, is this the same type? also, all pictures i have seen of it look like this (if the pic didnt come up i was showing this http://www.screenprintsuppliesuk.com...astisolINK.jpg)
is this the same thing? how do you create a plastisol transfer? do you need a specific printer? any help would be appreciated
Plastisol transfers are created by screenprinters. You submit the art, and they create it. I'm not even sure that all screenprinters can create them. I don't know the process, but thats what it is. By the way, NO question is a dumbass question. We are all learning here.
Instead of printing a shirt a screen print using plastisol ink and prints a release paper that you then heat press on to a shirt.

Plastisol ink is used for the screenprinting process only. It would be easier to have your custom plastisols done by a vendor sauch as Ace Transfer Company, Inc.
good luck ..... JB

thanks for the link, but im UK based, i think with the postage cost etc combined it will become pretty expensive, how much do you guys pay for transfer and which quantity so i can figure out what is a good price?thanks
thanks, i browsed their site, what are their prices like? it didnt say on their site
thanks
hard to give figures as plastisol transfers pricing is based on the number you need and the number of colors used in design. Usually the more you get the less the price. The more colors you use the higher the price. There is also ganging which again reduces the price.

thanks dude, on average how much do you pay for a full colour plastisol for example 100 prints? just want to see what sort of price i should try negotiating down to
Ace Transfer Company, Inc. is a great source for your plastisol needs. I have used them for 2 years with no issues. They are a growing company that still puts customer service as job 1. I think more companies need their attitude. ..... JB
