Default Cutting out design on heat transfer paper

Hi,

I am starting a small t-shirt printing website, basic question is:

Do I need to buy a cutter to cut round images, or do they only work for vinyl?

My first attempts at cutting them out with scissors were slow and not very neet.

If there are cutters for this purpose how cheap are they?

Andy

You can use transfer paper in a vinyl plotter/cutter as long as it is two-ply – or if you use Magic Mask with it. There is a thread around that talks about using JetPro SofStretch in a plotter.

I have used a rotary cutter(looks like a pizza cutter) to cut with. You just roll it around the image. You will need a cutting mat underneath to keep from cutting the surface where ypur paper is .... JB

I have used this in the past to cut perfect circles in opaque transfers. It is like the compass you used in school, but with an exacto blade on the outer arm. It will make a tiny hole in the center of the transfer where the point of the compass rests.

You can use any vinyl cutter with an optical eye to do a contour cut of your design. You can make it any shape or just the outline of your image. This is a much more efficient way then by hand.
