Default new here! is this ebay heat transfer package a good deal?

hey everyone, new here. im looking at getting into the t-shirt business, and an inexpensive way in. I was looking on ebay and saw one listed with a 15 x 15 commercial industrial press, 92 transfer sheets for lights and darks, and an epson c120 printer. how much do you all think that would go for? what should be my maximum bid? it looks like a good way to get into the business?

thoughts? and thanks!

Not sure what brand of heat press that is. For me, that would be the determining factor.

I sent the auction lister a question, specifically asking for "Brand name and Model Number" and all I got back was that it was "It's a 15" x 15" Digital Sublimation Heat Press T-Shirt Press. Thanks for looking."

Doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I suggest staying away from the ebay type press' . I advise to buy equipmentfrom a vendor that has experience with what works. The forum has some preferered vendors who give discounts to members. If you plan to use equipment to make money you want to have support if needed. I'm sure you won't get much support from a Ebay seller. I think it's worth paying extra to have sevice after the sale. .... JB

I am almost positive that press doesnt have a floating upper platon which you need. I would stay away from that particular press.

I checked out the listing. He seems to know his products, as far as paper and ink. When going through his feedback, he recently bought a heat press. No way to know if it is the one he's selling unless he says it's new.

BUT he also just recently bought a C120. Look at the price he paid, wow, I didn't realize the newer model could be had so cheap on Ebay.
EPSON C120 COLOR INKJET PRINTER NEW! - eBay (item 140237987051 end time Jun-08-08 14:14:07 PDT)

(I just checked and the c120's are on there cheap, some cheaper than this.)

Whatever he is doing, he is up to something, not necessarily bad either. He may be just buying supplies cheaply, and bundling them as a package for profit sake. On the other hand, he may be rebuying stuff to replace his faulty stuff, and selling his used off in a auction. Toss a coin.

If he doesn't say the stuff is brand new, then he must be keeping the brand new stuff, and selling something he already had there. Look in his feedback and you'll see what he purchased along with more info on a press he recently purchased. Like I said, can't tell if it's what he has listed in the auction, but it could be. The description is rather vague in the listing he bought it in.

I had the exact same press he is selling. Mine lasted for well over a year and pooped itself a couple weeks ago. I went and bought a mightypress 16x20 and I can tell you there is no comparison between the two.

The pres listed does NOT have a floating upper platen, with that being said, mine did make me ALOT of $$$$ for the time I had it. But I will never buy another one now that I have used my mightypress.

Not to get off topic, maybe someone could just PM me the answer rather than switching the subject of this thread, but what is the significance of a floating upper platen?

Thanks everyone for the reply, I think I may have to wait to afford a better name brand press.

The upper platon floats so that when the press is closed it can self level for different substrates. The press in the listings platon is solidly attached so the press cant self adjust creating a pinch effect and more pressure in one area than being even all over.

Hope that is understandable.
