Default Heat transfer lable tags

I'm using heat transfers for the first time on the inside of my shirts for hang-tags.
I know you are supposed to use a heat press to transfer them but in the case of a small tag that can be easily covered by a iron, could I get away with it?
I have access to a heat transfer machine but this seems so much easier.
The directions say to apply with machine at 350% with medium pressure. I tried it on a few with the iron and had decent results except that they seems to show up alittle on the outside of the shirt which is not so nice.
Looking for advice, thanks!

I suggest using a hat press for this type of application. ..... JB

I suggest you press less hard that will help. The best solution is to heat press it with a flat hat press like coeds said

I would use the heat press even though the iron is easier particularly if you are going to sell the shirts. The extra effort will make a better quality product.
