new business equipment advice - UK heat press info? Hi, I have just signed up to the forum having spent many hours (or was it days!) browsing the Q&A forums.
Anyhow, My wife and I are looking to set up an on-line shop for self designed printed shirts, expanding perhaps to other items.
My questions have probably been asked and answered here before, if so please bear with me.
We are in the UK, both have full time jobs (flexible hours), I am reasonably PC literate/practical, we have a few spare bedrooms to work in/store and our start up budget is £500/$1,000 ish?
1-I plan to use the heat transfer process, more economical than screen printing/cheaper set up. yes?
2- Shirts, I propse to use Gildan, I understand they are better quality than Fruit of the loom?
3- Heat Press, no idea which to go for, what size, new/used, advice much appreciated!!
4- Printer, I have a Lexmark X1160 inkjet, about 3 years old. Up to the job for quality? What would be a better machine?
5- Transfer paper, no idea, nipping down to PC World every five minutes is not an option at their prices!!
6 - What have I missed?? Also.....
More of a copywrite question than a start up question, but advice would be handy.
If I buy a piece of original artwork, say a painting, sketch, etc, does the copywrite become mine? Am I able to reproduce , copy, print and sell the image(s)?
If I commission a (hobby) artist to produce artwork, shop logo etc does the copywrite become mine, what if he kept a copy and at a later date made a claim? is their a "contractors" agreement letter?
Another off the point question, do the dead still have copywrite? For example could one produce a t shirt with the slogan "Shakspear borrowed my pen", "Einstein stole my calculator", "I lent my compass to Columbus".
Help and assistance much appriciated, sorry if I have made any forum boo boos. T |
