Many questions involving the Heat Press method please help.....
Yo I got some questions. I recently bought a heat press and I got it off Ebay and I got it sent to me and its a clamshell press, mind you, and it looks good and the power button comes on but Im getting nothing from the temperature gauge and its not heating up at all. Does anyone know how to get this fixed or what.
Also when I was getting ready to use the thing I printed out some designs on some transfer paper and my designs looked so blurry they would have turned out like **** anyways. I was using a Paint program to print them off of does that make a difference or could it be my inkjet printer because its brand new. Or was it the paper because it was just some office max stuff so whats up...You guys got the answers and I want em.
Also how do you print black designs on dark shirts because it said on the cold peel instructions on the box that you cant use black ink but I gotta use the black ink baby whats going on...
Re: Many questions involving the Heat Press method please help.....
When oh when will you folks listen to the pros. Do not buy a heat press off of ebay unless you know it is a recommended brand. Sure we all want to save money.. But sometimes that cost us more and this is a great example. Also buy paper from a commercial vendor. When you say your designs were blurry was that because you enlarged them. Then they became pixilated? You can reduce a picture but not enlarge it for quality.

If the press doesnt heat up or the controls dont work its busted. Send it back!
Photo images need to be produced in the size they are going to be printed saved at a high resolution.
Most folks opt for a program for design such as AI, Corel Draw or Photoshop.
Papers from Office Max etc arent going to give you quality results in the long run. Look at a paper called Jet Pro Soft Stretch.
Inks in your printer are important. The above mentioned paper has had good results with several different inks. Pigment inks are preffered over most dye based inks.
Black ink on black shirts doesnt compute. Black ink on a red shirt will work.

Sounds like you bought a defective heat press, and then used paper made for family birthday parties. You probably need a new press, and you definitely need different paper.
Re: Many questions involving the Heat Press method please help.....
I have typed this statement many times "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR", "IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS". Now all that being said, I suggest you buy a used name brand press or save until you can purchase a new one. When you buy the off brands, you are not getting quality equipment or service after the sale(parts dept,or service dept).. .... JB

Try looking in the Fulfillment section of the Forum. You might want to just open a store on CafePress or Printfection, etc. There are no up-front costs. Just load your designs and they do everything from there (except marketing.) The profit margins are not great - but it will get you started.
