Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Hey all, new member here with a big problem. I bought a few t-shirt transfer sheets at target and everything went fine. I decided to buy some cheap papers from ebay and printed alot of images and now i have a big problem. I follow the instructions but when i finish ironing the image i cannot peel the paper off. i have ruined about 4 shirts now and i dont know whats wrong. The other papers worked fine, but now im having lots of trouble. the instructions say to pre-heat, get wrinkles out, set to highest heat settings, no water or steam and press for 10 secs. But same results everytime, it just wont peel off. Please help me out.

Wow bam do you know what kind of transfer paper it was you purchased from ebay? I can honestly say I have never encountered an issue like that.

no i dont, and whats worse is i bought 50 sheets. could it be that my iron is just too hot? im wondering if i should set my heat settings lower and see if i still have that problem.

Well, I use a heat press for my transfers and not an iron. But the only time I came close to having the same issue was a transfer I was doing had cooled to quickly and was very resistant to being removed from a t shirt. Did the paper say you could use a household iron in application of transfers? You see one of the issues with using an iron to apply transfers is there is not an even heat distribution over the transfer. I'm wondering if perhaps part of your transfer is heating while another area is cooling and setting into the material making it adhere to your shirt.

That's what we are here for, I'm actually looking over the information now for you
I looked it over for you and it sure does say it can be used with an iron on the hottest setting. The only thing I could think of that could be causing a transfer to stick like that is uneven heat distribution over the transfer causing part of it to cool into the material as you are ironing. I did notice in his information that he says you only need to heat the transfer for 10 seconds. Then iron the edge of it for an additional 30 seconds. I have to heat my transfers using a heat press for 20 seconds @ 350 degrees. I dont see how a household iron could heat a transfer with only 10 seconds of running an iron over it.
