Default What Transfers Onto the T-Shirt w/Heat Press?

I'm new to this topic and wanted to see if anybody had an answer to my question? If I'm printing a design using my printer onto transfer paper what will transfer onto the t-shirt? Will just the design transfer onto the shirt or will the design and the surrounding transfer paper be placed on the shirt? If the later is true...does this mean each design has to be trimmed around first in order to not have the "box" of surrounding transfer paper show up on the shirt? Please help?!?!

Yeah you will have to trim/cut it. You can do this by hand or purchase a cutter.

This question has been asked a thousand times.. Remember that if you are working with almost any ink jet transfer you print yourself you will need to trim around the design. i recommend 1/8th inch. The only time you do not is if you print a full photo design that takes up the whole design. Lou

How much does a good cutter cost? Can you recommend any? Will it trim only around the design or within the design as well (for very detailed items (for blank areas in the middle of designs))? Thanks.

I use scissors.. As shown in my videos. You can buy a cutter.. that is about $1500. Scissors less then $10.

There are various cutters on the market.. there is one that is around $500 that is a laser cutter that will do contour cutting (that is what you need to cut inkjet heat transfer designs), that is a low dollar cutter.. there are nice cutters called roland gx24 and graphtec, those are higher price ranges with nice features that come with the money....

Here is a link to a thread that is comparing various cutters....

Here you go: I Bought A Copam from US Cutter - Time to compare UScutter - Graphtec CE5000-60 - Roland GX 24

Make sure you look for a cutter that will do "contour cutting"...

You can purchase a kit of Exacto knives, I got some off Ebay at cheap price. You can cut around the graphic, and remove unwanted layer. Goodluck!
