Smile cis question

does anyone know if a cis actually changes any of the nozzles or is it just a totally separate kit that is added to the printer as is. the reason i ask is i want to purchase an epson 1400 but not the cis but have found refillable cartridges for the 1400 and want to use them. i dont want to clog the printer by using pigment ink but if all of these cis are around using pigment ink in the 1400 wont the refillable cartridges work just as well with pigment ink? any help or info appreciated.

Default Re: cis question

A CIS system does not replace the original print nozzles. A CIS is basically a set of carts with tubes going into them. As the printer uses ink from the carts, more ink gets pulled from the bulk system. Refillable carts should work fine, provided the chips on the carts are compatible with the printer.

I just had an issue getting a 1400 running on an Artanium Easyflow system. The printer was new and the bulk system was 8 months old. Turns out Epson made a firmware change recently which made the cart chips not work. Sawgrass is sending updated chips. What ever you do, buy carts from a reputable source. IE: Anything BUT ebay. If not, if you have problems, you'll probably be stuck.
