Default Is the EPSON 1400 a good beginner's printer?

I just bought an EPSON 1400 printer. Is this a decent printer to start off with? I'm going to be working with lights for now and I'm just needing some feedback. I purchased the JPSS paper and I'm trying to price an affordable vinyl cutter.

Thanks for Reading,
Soulwalker

For starters, the 1400 uses Claria Inks...not pigment inks which most of us prefer. There is a thread that says some forum members have used JPSS with claria inks and it worked okay. Before I installed sublimation ink in mine, I tried a normal transfer and the claria ink washed out more than I wanted and so never tried any more. How are you going to use a cutter..if you are going to contour cut, you will need a cutter with optic eye or other registration system. Chani has a thread that she is posting test results on cutters.

Here's the link to the Claria Ink and JPSS wash tests results so you can see what is happening with the Claria ink and various papers being tested with it: Claria Ink Results ~~pictures!!

Here's another link - to a JPSS thread with test results of JPSS and various dyes, including regular Canon dye ink: https://www.t-shirtforums.com/heat-p...tml#post268154

A worthy note is that Pigment ink is able to work with all papers, and has been used as the standard ink until these newer products started showing great surprising results in certain combinations. Good luck to you. From what I saw in the threads, you could be very okay with a Claria and JPSS combination, but that is up to you to decide, since your name goes on the product... have a great day!
