Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
I haven't tried it yet but, I would use any vinyl that you would use for nylon. That would be something like Gorilla Grip or the vinyls from heatpressvinyl.com
I'm planning on using my cap press. The up side of that being that I don't need to worry about the skelton of the umbrella. The possible down side being that I'll be limited on the size of the design (although I don't think I'd want it too big anyhow.)
Broder Brothers carries a few umbrellas. Toppers has quite a selection -- and I could have sworn that either Imprints Wholesale or S&S Activewear carried some of the Toppers styles, but I don't see them there now. It may be that they're just out of season. Also, the large golf umbrellas should be fairly easy to find.
I just answered your P M but for others, I used transfers made for nylon from Ace Transfer Company, Inc.. These transfers are called Elasto-flex. This transfer can be used on nylon and on under armour too. .. I hope this helps. ...... JB
I haven't personally done it, but my fellow dog vendors have using regular inkjet transfers. Some even do them on their regular heatpress, with the assistance of some teflon pillows.
I have used Heat Applied Vinyl that I cut from my plotter a lot for umbrella. I buy Sports Grip from Twill USA and have two big golf umbrellas I pressed 2 years ago with no fading cracking or signs of wear.
