I need some opinions on how useful are trade show seminars. I've made a few T-shirts over a few months. Was wondering if they are really benificial for those who are new to the business. I'm looking forward to the Fort Worth, Texas show this May. What say you? I searched but did not get anything about the seminars.
From what I've read in posts following shows, everyone from every level of experience gets something out of the trade shows, beside major goodie bags.
The ISS show in AC had free registration if one registered early. Some do that, and ya can't beat the kind of a deal. If you go, have fun. Maybe you'll meet some other tshirtforum members there while you're at it.
Thanks Kelly. I'm looking forward to seeing what's available and possible. Sounds very exciting as well. I just was wandering if the seminars that are offered at the show were worth while enough to pay the cost to attend them?

I find them very beneficial and definitely suggest you get to the ones for what you're pursuing. I attended my first Printwear show in 2007 and wished I had gone to others last year.
It's okay though! I'm going again this year to Printwear (next week), have attended the Great Garments Graphics seminar last month, and scheduled to attend SGIA this fall.
There is much to be missed if you don't attend and will realize it once you find yourself at one.
I've been attending these shows for a number of years now and really feel it is important to do so every year, its actually our vacation.
I been to well over half of the seminars, there are alot of them that are repeats from year to year, usually the new ones are tagged as new. I am sure even the older ones have some updated info.
As a beginner there is information to be gained but don't expect alot, usually if you can gain 1-3 bits tips its considered worthwhile. And in comparison to alot of other seminars the prices are pretty reasonable.
By sure to leave yourself enough time to see the show itself. I have found that there is alot of information to be had a the booths. Go on a low traffic day if possible. That way you have time and get a quick train on the different things you are looking. Just remember to take with a grain of salt that they are trying to sell their services as opposed to their compeditors.
But you can usually see if they are having problems or things are going pretty smooth.
If you are looking at particular processes take a couple of files with you on a flash drive and have them show you the processes with you stuff, gives you a better idea of what you are really in for. Remember the files they are demoing have usually been prepared for and/or practiced with on their process.
Have fun and never buy anything on the first day, always go back to your hotel and think things through. Most of the companies will hold their show special for a week of so after the show, aside from some little items that you take with you right at from the booth.
The printwear shows are great because they cover such a wide gammet of the industry and it quickly gets you thinkin' of all the other services you may be able to offer customers.
A great big Thank You to everyone. You are really a great bunch. I appreciate the information and can't wait to attend a show. I've been working on my own and really want to see what others are doing. Again thank you for your help.
