Roger's post is spot on, or you could plan your designs with color filled boxes and rectangle designs.
There are great plotters/cutters out there, as well as a thread here with testing being done with a great paper Jetprosofstretch (tshirtsupplies.com).

Jetpro is for light shirts, you'll have the same issue with paper for darks. At least with
JPSS, the polymer is negiligable, and washes out in a few washes. If you go this way, look for papers that work well with plotters. Best regards.
