Hey people,

okay i think i have decided to go the way of the heat transfer and press

I will be printing my designs on the following colour t-shirts: -

White
Grey
Yellow
Red

what i was wondering is - is there transfer paper recommedations for certain coloured t-shirts? - or anything i should know before i decided to purchase a heat press, printer and transfer?

its because ive read stuff about certain colours dont show to well or something on black and white t-shirts. . . like the quality drops i think?

Depending on your graphics, you are probably going to need both light and dark transfer paper. Look at the lightest color in your graphic and if it is lighter than the color of the shirt...you have to use dark transfer paper. Make sure you trim the dark transfer paper as well.

The best example is if you want to put a picture of a blonde white girl on to a pink shirt. If you use light transfer paper, her hair is going to look like a strawberry color and her skin is going to look like a sunburn. This is because the color of the shirt (i.e. pink) will alter any colors that are lighter (i.e. blonde or white).

As for specific name brands of paper, the best thing for you to do is try a bunch of different samples and see which works best for your printer and your target market. There are a ton of reviews on different types of transfer papers in this forum.

Well I am not sure about being a Legend, but glad I could help. It was not that long ago when I did the example above a Karate tournament right in front of the customer. I think my face turned the same color as the print on the shirt. Oh well, it was a great learning lesson. Best of luck in the future.

well your a legend to me - and i think if i was in that position you were in i would end up crying but indeed you learn from things like that, even the best fall down but the better get back up
