Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Hi, Great forums full of good info. I am joining the heat press crowd with my win with this one. Here $499 shipped to my door! You guys think thats a good deal??
My question is this: I have been reading all over about what you can do with a vinyl cutter and heat press(15X15). This is my list so far if im missing something we can do with this combo please share!!
I think you did fairly well for the price as it is a stahls which is a very good brand.
Jamie that is something you should really pay attention to as far as price. Sure you can get a heat press for $199 and it will be a no name press manufactured in china and have no service or parts here in the states.
I think you got a good deal for that press

if it works seems okay price...now about vinyl cutting...think you should do more research.. You can do heat press vinyl for garment but remember..it is a cutter...not printing on vinyl (unless you spring for about 10-13K) not sure how you would use vinyl on lanyard..tote bags okay but remember you are doing just one color outline...not a photo or image..with cutters you have to have image vectored.. you can use more than one color and use multi layers but it gives a heavy hand..mouse pads the same ..and coaster...not likely..
For mouse pads, coaster, tote bags you may have better choices to make
If you have a cutter with optic eye like Roland GX24 you can use the cutter to cut around images using special paper and then press that on a garment etc...but this is not vinyl..just another way to do images to transfer using inkjet technology..
in short...dye sub is a process using particular printers, special inks, special paper to print images which are then heat presses..The heat of the press turns the ink on the paper into a gas which is then forced into the garment where it bonds with the fibers. NOTE...this process is only of 100% polyester white or light colored garments...no colors...it is an expensive set up..each color cart will cost $85 or more depending on the printer....for more information go to the thread here on the forum on sublimation and also look at DyeSub.org - An educational site for dye sublimation and digital transfer printing. for more information
