Default That darned yellow

Now that I've got my Hix Presto 15 press and have started testing, I've noticed the platen leaves a faint yellow square on white shirts. After querying Coastal Supply and Hix Corp., I've gone from 375 to 325 degrees, from 20 to 12 seconds and 6 1/2 to 5 1/2 pressure and the darn yellow is still there.

I did notice that washing seems to take the discoloration away, but I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem and how it was solved. The threads I've read offer suggestions but don't end up in triumph.

Now if I want to sell these shirts, I'm wondering weather it's ethical to wash them first. Cause that's the only way I can see to get the white back where it should be.

are you using parchment paper or teflon sheet to cover the transfer when you are pressing? Maybe if you find the parchment or teflon the size of your press this will protect the shirt and you shouldnt get the yellow.

You're probably right BobbieLee. The lady at Coastal suggested I get a teflon sheet if all else failed. But she thought I should be able to fix the yellow by experimenting with the temp, etc. The manual says the upper platen heat casting is made of aluminum. I bet if I had gotten a press with a teflon platen this wouldn't be happening.

Well covering your garment when pressing should be a pretty easy fix
