Default Used Gildan 800BW for daughter's bday shirts and UNHAPPY!

This was my situation: my daughter is celebrating her 5th birthday party this coming weekend. Most of the kids are her age, but as with any group of people, some are smaller, and some are larger. I decided that the youth size 2-4 would be too small for most, so when my daughter received a Hanes size 6-8 shirt as a gift and it fit, I decided to order the size 6-8 for the party shirts.

My next issue was what brand to get. I've used the Hanes Heavyweight and Jerzees before and they were OK, but the neck is always a little tight and the fabric a little thin. Since I've loved using the Gildan Ultra Cotton, I thought I'd order the Gildan 50/50 (works the best with JPSS). Knowing Gildan's reputation for being sized a bit bigger, I checked several different sites, and the measurement for the same shirt was different from site to site. If I remember correctly, I went to the Gildan website and even called Hanes and Jerzees. With no significant difference in size, I ordered the Gildan. WHAT A MISTAKE!

I printed, trimmed, pre-pressed and pressed the shirts yesterday while my daughter was napping (killing two birds with one stone, I was thinking), and when she got up, I had done 32 shirts. I was so proud to show her, and of course, she wanted to wear the t-shirt NOW! Well, it fit LIKE A NIGHTGOWN! IT IS HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only that, but the neckline is really big and open, so the design, even though applied about 2.25" from the bottom of the neckline, appears ON HER STOMACH! I AM SO PISSED THAT I SPENT ALL THIS TIME AND MONEY, AND THE SHIRTS ARE GOING TO BE BIG ON EVERYONE. UUuuuuuuuggghhhh!

I was also very upset that when comparing two Gildan shirts of the same size, there was an 1" difference in the width and the length of the shirt... Never again!

Default Re: Used Gildan 800BW for daughter's bday shirts and UNHAPPY!

I remember receiving my Gildans Ultra Cottons, long sleeve, youth and wondering what the heck was going on? They were very large when they came in. I needed and ordered S-M-L-XL. The small were so large, they were they were 8/10, and the med was 12/14 etc, all the way up. I didn't have any shirts for the smallest girls in the size 6/8 range. I was also unhappy. I couldn't fill the smallest orders, and the largest shirt was too big to sell in my market, they are still in stock. I ordered four sizes and could only fill two sizes of orders. I deseperately needed those small sizes, and would have ordered the extra small if there was any way to tell. Nothing in the size charts gave me a clue either. This style was G240B.

Now the 50/50's in the youth sizes weren't like that. My Gildan's Ultra Blend 50/50 & Jerzees HW 50/50 blend - both in a medium are the same exact size. Here are the size measurements I have: armpit to armpit 16.5", center shoulder to hem 20.5". That style is G800B in azalea color. The Jerzees is 29B.

Melissa, yours is the same tee in the white, right? I don't have size 6-8, it only says medium on it. Is that the same as your size? Do you want to see the measurements for them side by side. I think in the end our problems are opposite, which show further the inconsistancy that happens. I am wondering if my Mediums are large and I can't tell since both match.

For adult sizes, I just ordered a group of Gildan's Ultra Blend as well as Hane's Beefy Tee for adults. I felt the Gildan's Adult ran a bit small and tight in the hip. I liked the fit and room of Hanes better, but the cotton is too heavy.

These size things can drive one literally mad. I received the order of the "large pinks" the same day I received the Jerzees from Hondorous that were paper thin compared to the Jerzees from El Salvador that was in my test group.

Do we have these issues because these shirts are in the lowest tiers of pricing, I wonder.......

Sorry to hear of your troubles.
