Hey Charles: The C88 does come with pigment ink, but I think it's the only Epson that does (unless there are some new ones I'm not aware of).

Depends on the printer. The R1800 has Ultrachrome High Gloss and the R1900 has Ultrachrome high gloss 2, both of which are pigment. Ultrachrome 2 is reformulated to print better skin tones. The Epson 3800 and 4800 use Ultrachrome K3. K3 is better for printing on photographic paper. There was a noticable difference in color reproduction between the R1900 and the Pro 3800 which you probably would never notice printing transfers. K3 really shines when doing monochrome prints.

The R1800 is cheap right now because it's replacement has hit the streets (R1900). That would make a great pigment based, wide format transer printer.

I've never been a fan of all-in-one printers, so I'd go with the C88 if I had to choose one of those. They are both letter size printers and not really wide enough to print adult tees. Depending on what you're printing, you can get away with it, but wide format will open up some doors, and it doesn't cost that much more to go that route.

I just looked at the specs and it looks like they both come with Durabite pigment ink so I guess it just depends on whether you prefer just a plain ol' printer or an all-in-one.

Also, when you are deciding, figure out if you will want to use a bulk system/CIS at some point and make sure your printer has one available.

I originally choose the CX8400 b/c I loved being able to use the SD card and scanner, but there isn't a bulk/CIS available for it. Back it went.

I got a c88+ refurb from Espon.com shipped to me for $40.00 total. Epson does some good clearance/refurb sales. Theres a 10% off first order code. FS4H may still be a live code. I have had no issues with my printer at all. Works perfect. No clogging, even if left off for a few days.

Best regards.
