Discuss the various aspects of heat press technology. Transfer paper, inks, plastisol transfers, vinyl cutters, printers, commercial usage, durability, suppliers, etc.
Just got my Iron all dark from New Milford, instructions says press for 10 seconds but Badalou in one of his videos pressed for 25sec, did both times and seem not to be geting the right result, i am using 100% cotton shirts.
Next issue is the paper curls alot, i have to roll it on the reverse to try and correct that problem and then my epson 1280 printer appears not to recognize it, paper just floats right through the printer and then maintenance light comes on. works in the epson c88+
Last, any suggested drying time when done printing?
Thanks for any help.
I press Ironall Dark at about 360-365* for 15-16 seconds. On black, I cut back to 13 seconds b/c it tends to look a bit translucent.
Maybe the curling is due to the amount of ink on the paper? Is it curled before you print on it?
I have a habit when working with I need to press rather quickly to set my printed image on the press with the platen raised, just to dry the ink near that "dry" heat source.
Thank you so much for the info, I was pressing at 375 and 25 and thats the same problem i was having especially with the black it was fading right after one wash. Will try your recommendations for sure as soon as i get home. With regards to curling its before i print, just take it out of the pack and if you leave it for about a minute it just folds right up, strange, but thanks for you tip re drying will do that as well.
HI I got some to and it curled as it was printing I still dont like the feel of it but that is just me and I would not sell it on A shirt just give them A way

I have to agree with you, i dont mind the feel but just wish my colours would hold and not fade after one or two washes. Can you tell me, do you peel the silicone sheet right after pressing or do you peel cold?
Did you replace the ink that came in the 1280 printer, or are you using the original ink? The original ink is dye, and will wash out with Ironall light or dark, always. Is this what is happening to you?
I see you have a c88, that has the pigment ink that should not wash out on the Ironall Dk
No I am using CIS system with 1280 and MIS heat transfer ink. I am going to be testing today using the settings you recommended, so will let you know after my wash test.
Sorry, I misunderstood because I read this, and this printer has the pigmen ink that Ironall dk needs. But if you're using a CIS with pigment ink, you'll be fine. It's just a matter of finding the 'sweet spot' for your temp and dwell time. You'll find it, the Ironall dk I found to be a little tricky on very dark colors, and I still shy away from pressing on black, but it can be done. Less is more with that, I think. Best regards.
